When does a chimney need restoring?
Typical signs are crumbling joints and bricks, a cracked chimney crown, or damp patches on the walls around the flue. The part above the roof is the most exposed to rain and frost, so that is where our assessment starts.
Does replacing the heating affect the chimney?
Often, yes. A new heat source may need a different flue from the old stove. Lesser Poland and Silesia have anti-smog resolutions restricting the use of old solid-fuel boilers, so many homes are replacing their heating and adapting the chimney at the same time.
